I've playing for about 5 or 6 years, mostly for fun. My Uncle used to play at Oak Grove in Pasadena back in the seventies and I have friends who have been into disc golf since time began. One day I finally joined them for a round and I was hooked. Next thing I new my buddy Dave entered me into the Wintertime Open and I began to realize just how big this sport is. Since then I try to get into at least a couple tournaments a year, and at least once a year I pick a new course at least seven hours driving from Los Angeles and spend a few days there. This year I decided to do the Japan Open because in two more years I'll be 40 and I've always had this notion that when I turn the BIG 4-0 I should have a vacation in Texas. I'm not sure what inspires that calling.

I have only Innova discs (partly because I have pals who work there), and Valkeries and Sidewinders are my favs, but I always have a couple over- stable discs as well. I used to rely on a 150 Valkerie only for turn-over shots, but lately all I carry are 150's. My opinion is, at that light weight, no matter what you call 'em, there's only two kinds of discs: drivers and putters. I'm getting used to it and I'm confident I won't be traveling all tha distance to come in dead last!

I can hardly believe that in just one month and a couple days I'll be practicing on the Japan Open Disc Golf course. I'm not into typical tourist vacations, so this is definately my kind of adventure. Thank You and all the wonderful people involved who make such a cool thing happen!
